Why do I need insurance? Insurance helps protect you from the unexpected hurdles life throws at you.
Different types of insurance, such as automobile, home owners, business, and life insurance, protect you and your family for different things. For example, you need insurance to purchase a home if you are getting a loan from a bank because they require proof your home is protected from things like fire, wind, hail, etc. Would you be able to pay to repair or rebuild your home if it burnt down in a fire AND keep paying your mortgage payments?
For most people, the answer is no and that's where insurance comes in. Insurance allows you to repair or replace your property to the condition it was before the incident occurred. You, the insured, pay a premium and the insurance company agrees to compensate you if you have an insurable loss (accident, storm damage, etc). The purpose of insurance is to help financially compensate you for life's "what ifs". Accidents and disasters do happen, and when they do would you rather write a check from your own pocket or get a check from the insurance company?
